Summit & Oak was built on a simple idea: roofing should be documented, honest, and done by a crew that stands behind the work. We have spent nearly two decades proving it across Raleigh and the Triangle.

Why We Started

Too many homeowners get a roof they never really saw. A salesperson points at the roof, quotes a number, and a subcontracted crew shows up. Summit & Oak was built to be the opposite of that.

We photograph every inspection and hand you the evidence. We run trained crews, not day-labor. We pull the right permit, fix the decking we find, and sweep every nail before we leave. And we put it all behind a written 25-year workmanship warranty that transfers when you sell.

Nearly two decades and thousands of Triangle roofs later, that approach is still the whole company. Honest work, documented, backed by a warranty that means something.

Marcus Bell
Founder & Master Roofer
Meet the Founder

Marcus Bellstarted Summit & Oak after eighteen years on Triangle roofs, much of that time spent fixing or replacing work that was sold fast and documented never. He had watched too many neighbors in Raleigh and Wake County pay for a roof they had never actually seen, sign off on a number a salesperson pointed at, and learn about the corners that got cut only when the first hard rain came through. He started this company to be the opposite of that.

He runs it as a GAF Master Elite roofer, the highest certification GAF awards and one held by only a small share of contractors nationwide, which is what lets his team register the strongest manufacturer warranties in residential roofing. Marcus still walks the tricky inspections himself, sets the standard his crews install to, and puts every job behind a written 25-year workmanship warranty. Licensed and insured in North Carolina under NC #74122, he built Summit & Oak on one rule he repeats on every site: do it right, photograph it, and stand behind it.

That standard is not a slogan. Every roof is photographed start to finish, and a selection of that work lives in our project gallery, before and after, so you can see exactly what we hold ourselves to before you ever pick up the phone.

Marcus writes and reviews the guides in our resources library, so the advice you read here comes from the person who actually runs the crews, not a content team.

Meet the Team

A small, named team you will actually meet, not a call center. The people who scope, permit, and install your roof are the ones who stand behind it.

Carlos Rivera
Production Manager

Carlos runs every Summit & Oak job from the signed estimate to the final magnet sweep, scheduling crews, ordering the right material for each roof, and keeping the permit and inspection on track. Homeowners hear from him the day before a tear-off and the day it is done.

  • OSHA 30 safety certified
  • GAF-certified installation
Dana Whitfield
Lead Estimator & Storm Documentation Specialist

Dana climbs the roof on the free inspection, photographs every slope, and writes the documented report homeowners use to file a storm claim with confidence. She meets adjusters on-site and walks them through the damage item by item. She does not negotiate claims — she documents them, so the homeowner stays in control.

  • Drone-documented inspections
  • Trained in IBHS FORTIFIED roof standards
Travis Boone
Crew Foreman & Lead Installer

Travis leads the install crew that is on your roof, not a subcontracted stranger. He sets the standard the manufacturer system warranty depends on: tear off to the deck, replace the rot, flash it right, and sweep every nail. He has been with Summit & Oak for years and answers for the work when it is done.

  • GAF-certified system installation
  • Years leading Summit & Oak crews
Renee Caldwell
Client Care & Permitting Lead

Renee handles the paperwork most roofers leave to the homeowner: pulling the correct city or county permit for your address, preparing HOA architectural-committee submittals, and registering your manufacturer warranty so the coverage is on record. She is the person who picks up when you call.

  • Wake, Johnston & Durham County permitting
  • Manufacturer warranty registration
How We Work

Documented, Not Guessed

Every inspection comes with close-up photos in your hands the same day. You see what we see, and decisions get made on evidence, not pressure.

Our Crews, Not Subs

Trained crews we stand behind, not subcontracted strangers. It is how we keep quality consistent and back a real workmanship warranty.

Honest About Cost

We tell you when a repair beats a replacement, even when the bigger job pays us more. Trust is worth more than one invoice.

Who Does the Work

Summit & Oak roof work documented on a Triangle home
The same crew from the first tarp to the final cleanup, on every roof.

A roof is only as good as the crew that installs it, so we do not subcontract ours. The people on your roof are trained Summit & Oak crews who do this every day, led by a foreman who has been with us for years and answers for the work when it is done.

They protect your landscaping before they start, tear off down to the deck so nothing is buried, replace any rotten decking they find rather than roof over it, install the full system the manufacturer specifies, and finish with a magnetic sweep of the yard and driveway to pull every nail. You get the same crew from the first tarp to the final cleanup.

That continuity is how a 25-year workmanship warranty actually means something instead of being a line on a contract. The same people who put the roof on are the people who stand behind it.

The Standard

Documentation is not paperwork we do for ourselves. It is how you stay in control of a five-figure decision.

Every inspection starts on the roof with a camera. We photograph each slope, the flashing, the valleys, and anything that is failing, and you get those photos the same day, not a verbal summary over the phone. If there is storm damage, we mark and date it the way an adjuster expects to see it, so your claim rests on evidence rather than argument.

During the work, the crew photographs what gets uncovered, especially the decking, because that is where the surprises hide. If we find rot or soft wood after tear-off, you see a picture of it before we replace it, so there are no mystery line items at the end.

You can see the standard for yourself. A selection of completed Triangle roofs, before and after, lives in our project gallery.

Credentials are not decoration. Each one below is a manufacturer or trade body that audits our work and our paperwork, and together they are what let us register the strongest warranties available and back a written 25-year workmanship guarantee on the installation itself.
